A Caring and comprehensive approach to the Education and Development of a Smarty Pants Pre-School Child

At Smarty Pants Pre-School children's safety and development is our number one priority. Our policies and procedures are created to exceed the requirements of the Florida Administrative Codes and Statutes, the Department of Children and Families rules and regulations, and the Department of Health standards.

It is proven; the higher the quality of child care services the better social, emotional, intellectual and physical outcome for children. At Smarty Pants Pre-School our high quality custom curriculum is created to maximize experiences while preparing children with the skills necessary to lead with confidence.

At Smarty Pants Pre-School we administer a custom first class curriculum. Our expertise on how children develop enabled us to create courses of study that combine child directed and teacher directed approaches. The blend of teacher directed lessons along with child choice affords a stimulating environment full of fun, discovery, exploration, and knowledge. The benefit of the child directed activities motivates children to examine the Smarty Pants Pre-School environment that is rich with materials and experiences. Through self initiated interactions within the prepared environment children gain an understanding of cause and effect, relationships between objects, object recognition and problem solving skills. The advantage of teacher directed lessons offer young children that have limited life experiences, opportunities to participate in events that they are not in a position to be aware of or independently seek. Teacher directed lessons give specific instruction based on age appropriate well defined subject matter in a traditional education environment. This formal academic experience provides children an understanding of school and gives them an important early start to the education process.

At Smarty Pants Pre-School we know children rapidly develop. They transition from infant to toddler to a pre-school child seemingly overnight. During this period of growth children go from crawling to walking, babbling to talking, comprehension, imitating and remembering. At each stage of growth and development children require different stimulation nurturing and lessons. Understanding the progression of child development we have created a well defined age appropriate curriculum. Each program within the custom curriculum is sequential and specifically designed to maximize the skills and abilities of each age group. Within each program there is a daily schedule of lessons and activities. The schedule exposes children to new adventures and technologies, and capitalizes on their amazing ability to learn. The schedule promotes enthusiasm for school as well as self confidence imagination and creativity.

Children select and initiate their own activities from a variety of learning areas prepared by the teacher. Areas include dramatic play, blocks, science, math, games, puzzles, books, art, and music. The teacher allows each child to choose which activity he or she wants to participate in.

Children are placed into small learning groups and are given instruction in specific content areas such as Language and Communication, Vocabulary, Social and Emotional Development, Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Computers, Object Recognition, Sensory Development, Auditory Identification and Association, Fine and Gross Motor Skills, Music, Calendar, Weather, Arts and Crafts and Enrichments. The teacher instructs with consistency and repetition and makes learning fun.

Children use, Toys, Props, Costumes, Musical Instruments, Senses, Environmental Materials, Ditto Sheets, Flashcards, Audio Visual Equipment, Books, Art Equipment, Computers and all kinds of everyday Materials and Learning Equipment.

Smarty Pants Pre-School created an assessment procedure to carefully monitor child development. The method "TEAMS TEACH", Total Education Accountability Management Strategy, assures a checks and balance of the growth and development of each child. The team submits independent evaluations documenting milestones are being achieved and or alerts when they are not. It has a referral mechanism to assist parents/guardians with at risk children. The assessment file accompanies each child through each program and upon graduation of our program the file is passed on to the elementary school. The contents of the file will greatly aid the teacher in determining the social and academic level of each child.

Smarty Pants Pre-Schools exceptionally good curriculum is arranged to accelerate children through each stage of development. The age appropriate lessons are hands on and designed to be fun, stimulating and challenging. Each lesson is reinforced with positive feedback and created to maximize physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. The lessons cultivate critical thinking and problem solving skills. They are designed to capture multiple physical and cognitive skills while targeting specific objectives. Instruction is given in thirteen classifications. In each of the groups there are secondary categories framing the Smarty Pants Pre-School curriculum.
